Viva La Verve Hanging Snowflakes

Hi! I'm sorry I haven't been around much the last day or so. My DD talked me into letting her have a Halloween party and I've been crazy busy getting ready for it. It's really funny (NOT) how all of her promises to help clean and get ready for it go out the window once the invitations are all handed out!! I'm in a really good mood about it now, though, because I just downloaded a bunch of MP3's to make my own Halloween party mix! That was FUN!!

My card today is for the fourth October Viva La Verve challenge. These are posted in the Verve forum on Splitcoast, and they are a sketch with a twist. The twist this time was "There is no twist". But the sketch really had me stumped! I kept turning it different ways and trying to get an idea....I finally decided to make the two circles into holes (or windows) and dangle snowflakes in them. I cut the circles through all of the layers of the front of the card with my circle Nestabilities, then attached a length of clear sewing thread between the layers when I was assembling them. I had punched the snowflake 4 times using a Martha Stewart punch, then put stickles on them. For each "window" the clear string was sandwiched between 2 snowflakes. They were then finished off with a blue Darice snowflake rhinestone.

I thought this picture might show a little more of how the snowflakes dangle.

The Details:
Stamp: Snowflake Splendor - Verve
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Whisper White
Ink: Either Tea Dye or Vintage Photo Distress (I'm sorry, I forgot which one I finally decided on!)
Misc: Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch, Stardust Stickles, Darice Snowflake Gems, Gold pen, Clear Thread

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope your weekend is Fabulous! (And for those of you celebrating, Happy Haunting!)

Harvest Gossamer Cornwand

Hi! I started to post this last night, but guess what? When I went to download my pictures, I discovered that I had no memory card in the camera when I was taking the pictures!! By that time of night, there was no light left to take a decent picture, so it had to wait until this morning.

Here is another one with the fantastic Gossamer Cornwand, one of Amy's new line Sweet November Stamps that will be released on Nov 2! All That Scraps will be carrying them. I decided to try the Christmas Stamping All Year Long Challenge to create a Diorama. There is a SCS tutorial HERE. I changed the dimensions a bit - I made my outside pieces 4.25 x 6.5 and scored 1 inch in on both long edges. My middle piece is 4.25 x 5.5 and scored at 1/2 inch. For the center with the spider web I used my Nesties circle to create a opening then slipped my Spider Web corner punch into the opening (with the guard closed) and repeatedly punched the spider web around the circle (I hope that makes sense). If there is someone who can't picture it and wants to try it, let me know and I will try to explain better. The sentiment actually says "Season of Blessings". I had a hard time getting a picture where both the sentiment and the spider on the web showed, even though they are both completely visible when looking at the card! I need to work on my photography skills!! I also went over the web lines of her dress with a black Spica pen so in real life it is sparkly black but it doesn't show up in the photo!

The Details:
Stamps: Gossamer Cornwand - Sweet November Stamps, Sentiment Unity Sept KOM
Paper: Recollections Autumn pack, Basic Grey CS, Basic Black CS, PTI White CS
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Tea Dye Distress Ink
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair: YR18,E07,E09,E18
Eyes: B02,B04
Wings: BG72 w/B32 over it, BG75 w/ B34 over it, Y26,Y17,Y38
Misc: MS Spider web Corner punch, Nestabilities Circles and Scallop circles, Black Spica pen

Hello! I just couldn't resist turning My Guy Ian into a "hot" Santa with Anya sitting in his chair waiting for him! I had intended to use the "naughty" and the "nice" sentiment from Xmas Sweeties but somewhere along the way I have lost my "nice" sentiment! Then I decided, that's okay, who needs "nice" anyway!? Ooops, I just realized I forgot to color in his belt buckle, so pretend it is gold because I am going to go color it that as soon as I finish posting!

A Sneak Peek of Sweet November

Hi! You have NO idea how excited I am to be showing you a sneak peak of a new line of stamps by Amy (A Thousand Sheets of Paper)! Amy is amazingly talented and has been sharing these fantastic hand drawn Fairy creations of hers with those of us that visit her blog, and now they are being made into rubber (and some digi) through CC Designs-All That Scraps! They will be available on November 2! Amy's new line is called Sweet November Stamps and today I get to show you Gossamer Cornwand!

Now, I know with her spun web dress and spider friends a Christmas card may not have been the first thing that springs to most minds. Well, I have a confession to make. I have a thing about frost - I just love the sparkle it puts on the world. Do any of you remember that clay-mation holiday special from years ago called "Jack Frost"? Yep, that's my all time favorite holiday movie. So when I first saw this little beauty I pictured her being out at the turn of the season surrounded by red berries, with both the berries and her web dress sparkling with frost!

The Details:
Stamps: Gossamer Cornwand - Sweet November Stamps (available from All That Scraps), sentiment - retired SU - Season's Greetings
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Gina K base weight white, PTI White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark

Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Eyes:B02,BG05, both with C0 over

A Couple of Verve Cards

It is that time of month again - yes, it is time for the Verve release and there is a contest where you can win the whole release! Last month was the first time I participated, so I don't know if they are always like this, but there are 5 sketches posted in the Verve forum on SCS HERE and you have until a certain time on Friday to post all of your cards. There is a winner for each sketch challenge and a Grand Prize winner from those who complete all of the sketch challenges (I don't know why I am telling all of you this - that just means more competition! HA HA!) My goal is to complete all 5! Here are my first two:

This first one makes me so happy! I just love how it turned out and it was so simple because the background is one piece of DP!

The Details:
Stamps:Up and Up and Away, sentiment from All About You - Verve
Paper: DCWV Mi Casa, Chocolate Chip, PTI White
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink, Chocolate Chip Craft
Copics: R22,R24,R27,Y11,Y15.Y17,B91,B93,B95,C0,C1,C3
Misc: Brads, Clear Embossing Powder

For my second card I decided to try the color challenge this week on SCS - Bravo Burgundy, Cameo Coral and (optional) Always Artichoke. I have to say, Cameo Coral and I are not on friendly terms. I really tried to make peace with this card but I don't think we will ever truly get along!! And why do my bows always look crooked in my pictures! They never look that way to me until I have posted them on the blog!! AAagh!

The Details:
Stamps: Bountiful Backgrounds - Verve
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Cameo Coral, Whisper White
Ink: White Craft, Bravo Burgundy Craft
Misc: BB Ribbon, Liquid Pearls, Taylors Tiny Twinkles, Clear Embossing Powder.

And last but certainly not least, I am not sure how many of you who read my blog also read Amy's - A Thousand Sheets of Paper. (If you don't you really should - she is AMAZINGLY talented!!) If you do then you have probably seen her wonderful Fairies? They are becoming rubber!! She has the details HERE along with a chance to win some of your very own!! You really should go check it out if you haven't already!

Thanks for your visit! I hope your day is Fantastic!!

Thank You! (And 2 Cards)

Hi! I just want to take a few minutes to say Thank You to everyone who takes a few minutes in their day to stop by here to see what I have done, and a HUGE Thank You to all of you who post your own things as inspiration! I started this blog last February because I wanted a chance to be on the Club Anya design team since I loved those stamps so much. I was very nervous about having a blog because I wasn't sure I'd know what to say. I still struggle with that almost every post. But this has opened a whole new wonderful world to me. I have found all kinds of wonderful new stamps, lots of inspiration from some AMAZINGLY talented people, and have met just the kindest most supportive people. Thank you all SO much! OK, on to some cards!

My first card is a birthday card that I made for our school lunch lady. I used Happy Chef's body and transplanted Teacher Anya's head onto it. There is a lot more sparkle than the picture shows. I am not a great photographer and I have been experimenting with my photo's. I want more depth and texture to show so I have been taking my pictures with no flash and an OTT light as the main lighting source. I think the texture and popped up parts are showing better, but it doesn't capture the sparkle as well.

The Details:
Stamp: Happy Chef, Teacher Anya - The Greeting Farm
Paper: Imaginisce, Rose Red, Lovely Lilac (I think) ,PTI White
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair: E50,E53,E55
Clothes: R81,R83,R85,B91 w/B000 over it, B93 w/B01 over it, B95 w/B02 over it.
Cake: Y000,BV01,BV02,B01,R85
Misc: Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, Stardust Stickles, Fiskars Corner Punch, EK Success Border Punch

I used Taylored Expressions Sketch #87 for my second card. When I was making this, at different stages I kept thinking something was missing and so I would show my DH who would say,"Yep, something's missing." After about the third time he looked over my shoulder and said,"It needs more macaroni." I need to slap him!!

The Details:
Stamp: The Places You'll Go - Taylored Expressions
Paper: My Minds Eye (blue), K&Co (Green), Dusty Durango, Pacific Point, PTI White
Copics: BG000,B04,B06,B18,C0,C1,C3,YG21,YG23,YG25,YG17,E21,E25,E27,E29
Misc: Dew Drops, Stardust Stickles, SU Scallop Border Punch, SU Ribbon, SU Brads, Circle Nestabilit

A SCS Sketch!

How is your week going so far? I'm OK, but everyone here keeps saying we are going to have snow any day and I have so much to do to be ready for it! I feel a little overwhelmed!

The sketch for my card today comes form Splitcoaststampers weekly card sketch (#250). It is a really straight forward card. The trees (from the Taylored Expressions set Holiday Wonder) were colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on the squares which were cut using my Square Nestabilities. The Cool Caribbean panel was embossed using a Cuttlebug folder and I did some piercing. I borrowed the color scheme from a color challenge on Christmas Stamping All Year Long from a few weeks ago.

The Details:
Stamp: Holiday Wonder - Taylored Expressions
Paper: Cool Caribbean, Rich Razelberry, Night of Navy, Whisper White, PTI White
Copics:
G14,G17,BG45,BG49,R59 w/V06 over it, B95W/B39 over it, E49
Misc: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Paper Piercer, Nestabilities Squares

2 of My Hobbies Collide

...And I think it turned out pretty alright!! I know I have mentioned before that I am now trying to do all of the Viva La Verve challenges. In case you are not familiar with them, they are posted in the Verve forum on SplitCoastStampers and they are always a sketch challenge with a twist. This weeks twist was to use fabric. Well, do I have fabric!! All of my other hobbies have kind of taken a backseat to stamping this past year, but I have been sewing since I was a teenager and it will probably always be my first craft love. I ended up using this scrap piece of silk that I had been saving for years. I made a pillow with most of it but it was so pretty I had a hard time letting go of the leftovers!! (I really wish there were enough left to make a bodice or a corset!) I also used some trim that I bought for who-knows what project ages ago!

The Details:
Stamp: Beautiful You - Verve
Paper: Crushed Curry, Basic Black, Whisper White, Fabric
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink, Basic Black Craft
Misc: Offray Ribbon, Darice Black Gems, Fiskars Corner punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Nestabilities Circle

Frost Fairy

Hi! How are you all? I feel like I haven't posted in forever. I guess it has just been a few days, but I try to always post something Monday through Friday. I don't know what is going on but I sit and look at my stamps and have no idea what I want to do. Usually when I get like this, some new paper or a new do-dad gets me all excited again, but I don't even have the urge to go craft shopping!! I decided to pull out some of my favorite Greeting Farm images to see if that helped and I at least ended up with a card! I used the sketch from Christmas Stamping All Year Long, although I left off the sentiment. I like to think of this as my little "Frost Fairy"!

The Details: Flutter-By - The Greeting Farm
Paper: Imaginisce, GinaK Base weight White, PTI White.
Copics:
Skin: E11,E13,E15,R22
Hair and Clothes: BG000, B000, B01
Misc: Recollections Brads, Taylors Tiny Twinkles, Silver Stickles, Martha Stewart Snowflake punch, Spellbinders Create a Flake 1.

Candy Winner

Hello! Thank you so much for all of your advice yesterday. I guess I have some thinking to do. I don't have a card today because I have been working on sewing my daughter's Halloween costume instead of stamping. I did, however, use the highly scientific method of have my DD choose a name out of a hat to get the winner of the candy I offered yesterday and here is the result:
So, Lisa, if you send my your snail mail address before tomorrow morning I will mail it tomorrow and hopefully you will get them in time to add them to a few Halloween cards . (My e-mail is in my profile.) Congrats!

Thanks again!

A Quilted Pumpkin and Some Halloween Candy

Hi Everyone! After the card I have a small amount of candy to give away and I need your opinions on something to do with candy, so please read to the end and let me know what you think.

For the card I used one of the stamps from the September Kit of the Month from Unity. The stitching on the pumpkin made me think of quilting so I tried to get a quilted look to the card. I'm not too sure how happy I am with it....But the stamp is wonderful. I'm going to have to try something else with it later!

The Details:
Stamp: Unity September Kit of the Month
Paper: Chatterbox, Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Copics: YR5,YR16,YR18,YG95,YG97,R46 w/E08 over it, R59 w/E09 over it.
Misc: Linen Thread, Button

On to the candy! First I will tell you the story so you can laugh at me! I ordered this sentiment set from Doodlefactory and got it, but when I went to use it I couldn't find it anywhere. It was bare rubber and I had no memory of mounting it on EZ Mount which I always do with these. I finally dcided that maybe I threw the envelope away with the stamps still inside because they are so thin. I was furious with myself, but decided to order it again because I really liked these Halloween sentiments! Well, guess what? I had mounted the first set and put it in a CD case but not labeled it or catalogued it in my 3 ring binder (I NEVER forget to do that!) and of course I found it just as my second set arrived. So, even though it will be pushing it to get this to you before Halloween I would like to give it away to one of you. Just tell me you favorite Halloween costume (yours, your child's, one you saw somewhere...) I will draw randomly Thursday afternoon and if I get the address from the winner fast enough will put it in the mail Friday morning. Oh, here is the set - it is bare rubber:

And my last question... I really need your opinions. My stamp collection is really taking over the dining room. Some of it consists of some wonderful stamps that I was seduced into buying by other ladies fabulous creations but I have since realized are really not my style. Many of them have never been used, but are not in their original packages because I store all of my stamps in CD cases. Is is weird or improper to offer them as candy if they are not in their original packages? I really don't know the etiquette on this so I am counting on you.

Thanks so much!

Just Chillin' With Farm Fresh Friday

Hello! Today I had a chance to play with the Farm Fresh Friday sketch challenge (and ink up my new stamp set Keep Cozy from The Greeting Farm!) I colored the image with Copics, then added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the snowman and used some liquid applique for his ear muffs. I think liquid applique is the most fun and entertaining of all stamps supplies! I just love to watch it puff up! OK, maybe I am easily amused. The bling is Taylor's Tiny Twinkles from Taylored Expressions.

The Details:
Stamp: Keep Cozy - The Greeting Farm
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Real Red, PTI White
Copics: BG000,R22,R24,R29,RV23,RV25,RV29,Y02,Y06,Y08,Y17,Y38,G02,G05,G09
Misc: Ribbon -SU, Taylors Tiny Twinkles, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Liquid Applique, White embossing powder

No Brown or Orange??

When I saw the second Viva la Verve challenge for October (a sketch challenge with the twist of no brown or orange on the card) I thought, "How hard can it be to not use those 2 colors?" HaHa! It took me 2 days of looking through my papers to settle on something appropriate! Every time I got excited about the stamp set and papers I had chosen I realized there was either brown or orange (or both!) on those papers! I finally realized I could easily stay away form brown and orange if I stamped a Peacock!! (I love brown and orange so I probably easily could have added them too if allowed!!) Actually, my lovely daughter, reading over my shoulder has just pointed out that there is brown on this card. I am going to pretend that there is NOT!

I have been admiring The Dark Mermaid's work with Twinkling H2O's and was telling her I have not been happy with my work when I paint with them. I feel a little guilty because of the money I spent so I decided to paint my cardstock with some this time so that I get some use out of them. The cardstock base and mats are Night of Navy with some T H2O's over it and the embossed panel is Not Quite Navy that has also been painted with T H2O's.

The Details:
Stamps: Swan Song and Wishing You - Verve
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, PTI White
Copics: B28,B39,B02,BG05,BG09,YG95
Misc: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Twinkling H2O's, Darice Gems

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this is the beginning of a fabulous week for you!

2 Cards Today!

WooHoo it's Friday! Yeah! And I have 2 cards to show today! The first is a Halloween card using Gingerbell the cat from The Greeting Farm and the Jack-o-Lantern head from the Spooktacular set (also from TGF!)

Pumpkin: Y35,Y38,E08
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Dew Drop Brilliance Lightning Black (distressing on the fence)

My second card has a completely different feel and is for the first October Viva La Verve challenge. This was a sketch challenge with the twist of "make it shabby chic". That does not come naturally to me, so I hope this is acceptably shabby chic!

The Details:
Stamps: Wishing You, Because of You - Verve
Paper: Retired Baja Breeze paper pack, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Ink: Distress Inks in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo, Baja Breeze
Misc: Prima Flowers, Darice jewels, Martha Stewart border punch, Choc Chip Grosgrain ribbon

A Pink Halloween Kitty

My daughter loves this online game called ToonTown. Her character is a pink cat and she loves this cat. She draws pictures of it and makes up stories about it. Last year for Christmas I made her a stuffed toy version of it and this year she has decided that is what she wants to be for Halloween. (I need to get to work on that costume, I guess!) So I have had this Sugar Nellie image since last Spring and I decided I would make a pink Halloween card with it for her. The backgound panel (pink with the big spider web) was drawn with a VersaMark pen and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. It wasn't quite as sparkly as I wanted it so I went over it a little more with Diamond Stickles. The little spider on the sentiment is an EK Success punch and I put a pink rhinestone on it's back. I love how this looks in real life (I think it's my favorite part of the card) but it doesn't show very well in the picture.

The Details:
Stamp: Luca and Nellie Halloween Collection
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, Whisper White, PTI WHite
Copics:
Skin:R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair:E21,E25,E27,E29
Costume:R81,R83,R85,C0,C1,C3,C5,C7
Misc: Stickles, EK Success Punches - Spider, Skull and Crossbones, Spiderweb border, VersaMark pen, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, pink rhinestone

Thnaks so much for stopping by to see me!

Undead in the Graveyard

Hi! I have another Halloween card today! I am having so much fun making these but I have to stop soon so I can get them in the mail! For today's card I wanted to make a creepy/cute graveyard scene using the mummy and the vampire from the Spooktacular set from The Greeting Farm. And look! I finally got to use my graveyard border punch! I just had to have it and then I had a hard time using it....I drew the two bigger headstones and used some brown flock to be freshly dug up graves. I hope it looks like the vampire is flying - I had a really hard time placing him. The big tree is also hand cut.

Other Details:
Stamps: Spooktacular - The Greeting Farm
Paper: K&Co, Basic Black, PTI White
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair and Clothes: C0,C1,C3,C5,C7,C9
Misc: EK Success Bat Punch, Martha Stewart (I think - it may be EK Success - I think they make the MS ones anyway!) graveyard border punch, Brown Flocking

A "Wicked" Witch

I love this new digital witch from Whimsy Doodles! She reminds me so much of my friend Danielle (although Danielle would tell me she needs to be a round woman!) Dani is a member of "The Wicked Pixies" (our Ren-faire booth name that I stole for my blog) and she has her own business called "The Red Witch" (she makes custom hats, like wizard or princess hats.) So this witch is dressed in red and has red hair in honor of Danielle.

I made a frame for her to be popped up on by taking the guide off of a fancy corner punch and punching repeatedly around the square of black. I hand snipped any area that was still connected afterward. It is difficult to make it nice and straight (for me it was impossible!) but I don't think it really detracts too much in this case. And the frame really is on the purple base straight, but the angle of the picture makes it look mounted crooked! I used a clear Spica glitter pen on her hat so it is sparkly and her glasses have crystal effects on them to mimic real glasses. The sentiment (which also came with the witch) was cut out with an oval Nestability and sponged with several purple inks. I then rubbed a little gold stickles over it.

The Details:
Stamps: Witchy Girl - Whimsy Doodles
Paper: DCWV, Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, PTI White
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20
Hair: E02,E07,E09,E18

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant
Misc: Fiskars Corner Punch, Spica Clear Glitter Pen, Crystal Effects, Gold Stickles, Oval Nestabilities, Red Rhinestone Stickers

Feeling a Little Witch-y!

Did you all have a lot of fun on World Card Making Day (Saturday)? I am so sad that I didn't get to stamp that day. I just had way too much going on. I did manage to visit a few blogs and see some fantastic creations and I got to stamp a little bit on Sunday. I also went to see The Lion King and that was AMAZING!

I made this card yesterday during my little bit of stamping time. I am really in a witch-y mood lately and I have several different witch stamps so you may be seeing a few over the next couple of days!! This one uses an older image from Stamping Bella. The swirls behind the main image were cut with my Cricut and then I added lots of black glitter.

The Details:
Stamp: WitchyBella - Stamping Bella
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Basic Black, More Mustard, PTI White
Copics:Skin: R00,E00,E11,R20

A Get Well Viva la Verve Card

Hello! Just a quick post today with a card I made for a former co-worker who is having surgery on her foot today. I used the Viva la Verve September Sketch #5 and the twist (because there is always a twist with these!) was to use Specialty paper. I don't have a lot of specialty paper, but I have had this lilac flocked paper for close to 10 years, so I was thrilled to finally use it!! I know I got it at Micheals, but it doesn't have any brand name on it, just a barcode...

The Details:
Stamps: Swan Song and Wishing You - Verve
Paper: Lilac?, Black and White prints - GCD Studios, Basic Black, Whisper White, PTI White
Copics: BV000, BV01,BV02
Misc: SU Scallop Border Punch, Nestabilities, Stardust Stickles, Pearls -?

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope your day is Great!
